About Me

I have been interested in photography since the age of fifteen. I was lucky enough to get a job at a local camera retailer run by a friend. This jump started my interest in photography. During this time I was allowed to handle and use all manner of camera equipment and learnt a great deal from the customers who included photographers from major sports and press agencies. I also began my photography A-level at this time which opened my eyes to the pleasures of working in a darkroom.
I have since been fascinated by all kinds of photography but my main interest lies in people and places. I enjoy photographing live events and candid street portraiture. I have been known to photograph wildlife and have worked for local newspapers which I enjoyed immensely.
I am a recent digital convert, I purchased my first digital SLR in June 2008. I have been impressed by the functionality and flexibility provided by this new tool. I still have my 35mm outfit. I am not sure whether this is for practical back-up purposes as I often claim or for pure nostalgia. Either way I still feel more excited when I use film than digital, it has more “soul”.
I have always been a Canon user. I started off with a very modest 500n which I only recently sold on after it sat for years at the back of my cupboard. My kit snowballed from there.
My kit has grown and evolved into the outfit detailed below. Wonderful for most photographic situations, but not so great for my baggage allowance.
Current Outfit:
Canon EOS 7D
Canon EOS 40D
Canon EOS 1 HS
Canon 17 – 85mm EFS IS USM
Canon 28 – 80mm EF USM
Canon 50mm F1.8 MK II
Canon 70 – 200mm F2.8 EF L USM
Canon 300mm F4 EF L IS USM
Canon 430EZ Flash
Canon 430EX Flash MKII
I have always favoured the Canon 70 – 200mm F2.8 EF L USM and it is the lens I use most often, I still feel it is the best lens in the current Canon line up. I am completely in awe of the Canon EOS 7D it is a fantastic camera but there will always be a place in my heart (and my camera bag) for my Canon EOS 1 HS.
Aside from photography I am interested in films and computer gaming as well as chess and horology. I have a degree in International Finance and I have a full time job in the financial sector with a major UK bank. I am twenty six years old and live with my wife Samantha in West Sussex in the UK.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have been supportive of my photography over the last nine years. Thanks go to, my wife Samantha, my parents, Steve Sharpe, Vicky Herbert and all the photographers and camera retailers I have had the pleasure of working alongside.
